Pediatricians

MSF pediatricians are responsible for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pediatric patients to ensure integrated neonatal and pediatric care across emergency, outpatient and non-outpatient departments. Their responsibilities range from managing intensive therapeutic nutrition centres during nutritional crises to supporting care for children with cerebral malaria.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising inpatients’ progress including through conducting daily rounds and examinations, prescribing necessary treatment and deciding whether they should be discharged or transferred to another ward.
  • Providing information on the general organization of the pediatric ward, including criteria for admission, transfer and discharge.
  • Participating in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data in the neonatal and pediatric categories and preparing clinical cases for further briefing.
  • Supervising and training locally hired staff.

 Requirements

  • Specialization diploma (completed specialization) in pediatrics.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of English.
  • Ability to work on assignment for at least 3-6 months.
  • General requirements for all professions also apply.

Desirable

  • Specific training and/or experience in relevant areas including tropical medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and emergency medicine.
