Pharmacists

MSF pharmacists organize and manage stocks of medicines and medical supplies. Along with the logistics team, they ensure medicines, medical supplies and medical equipment are where they are needed at the right time and they are handled, transported and stored correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing effective inventory and supply management, optimal storage processes including quality control and health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Coordinating international and local orders (ordering, delivery, receiving, record keeping), including distribution of medicines to hospitals and clinics in close collaboration with the logistics department and the medical team.
  • Analyzing drug consumption and medical data to ensure information on stock levels is controlled and up to date and expiration of medicines is minimized.
  • Implementing new standards and protocols to be followed by all staff to ensure quality of service, including pharmacovigilance where required.
  • Supporting the health coordination team to ensure the supply chain complies with national legislation on the distribution of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Advice on local purchasing, donated medicines and medical supplies and their potential disposal after expiry.
  • Ongoing training, supervision and support to pharmacists, pharmaceutical assistants and medical and non-medical staff involved in the handling or disposal of medicines and medical supplies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in pharmacy.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience (pharmacist position in a pharmacy, experience from a hospital pharmacy, preferably experience in a management position).
  • Experience in the management of medicines, medical supplies and medical equipment (ordering, storage, distribution).
  • Computer literacy and strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in leading, supervising and training members of a team.
  • Strong knowledge of English and sometimes also French (or other language: Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish).
  • Ability to work on assignment for a period of at least 6 to 12 months.

  • Knowledge of HIV and TB treatment
